1. Please introduce yourself
Hi! My name is Kate Johnston, and I’m a freshman at New York University (NYU). I recently graduated from Saint Ignatius College Prep. The college application journey wasn’t always easy, but it was worth it. I was thrilled to be accepted into several amazing schools, including Bucknell, University of North Carolina, Fordham, Syracuse, and University of Connecticut. Ultimately, I chose NYU because they have one of the best arts programs in the world for Film & TV Production. NYU also offers a top-tier study abroad program, which is something I’m really excited to take advantage of. Since starting college, I’ve gotten involved with Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG), and it’s been such an incredible way to meet new people and build community. Living and learning in New York City has been nothing short of amazing — I’m truly living my dream.
2. Tell us about your Vault Prep experience
When I began ACT prep, I honestly didn’t think scoring a 30 was possible for me — but Vault Prep completely changed the game for me. Their alternative approach to test prep, along with the support of my tutors, Megan and Johnny, helped me unlock a whole new way of thinking. The strategies I learned weren’t just helpful for the ACT — they’ve changed the way I approach learning in general. My ACT score was a huge factor in my college applications, and I know I wouldn’t have gotten here without Vault. I’m incredibly grateful for the guidance, support, and confidence Vault Prep gave me throughout the process.
My advice to anyone else going through the process would be this: “Don’t be so hard on yourself during college prep — because it always works out in the end.”
